Kiki Abouchakra had been working in the beauty industry for five years before she decided to open her own skin clinic, Chakra Face & Body, in 2009. Located in Doncaster, Melbourne, the clinic offers a range of services from facials and makeup, lash extensions, tanning and waxing, to skin and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments.
After attending a seminar and speaking to her colleagues in the industry, Kiki realised her business was incorrectly insured by a direct insurer. “I wasn’t completely covered. As a business I had Public Liability, but as for our services I wasn’t covered. I was actually unaware of it and it was frightening because heaven forbid something happened. I was with them for seven years and I wasn’t insured properly – it’s a massive risk,” she says.
